SUMMARY

Architecture of Totalitarian Regimes in Urban ManagementsATRIUM

ATRIUM is an ambitious project, supported by the European Union, which aims to give more attention to a key element of the European history in the 20th century - the architectural heritage (buildings and urban landscapes). These are realised during a period of political regimes which were, to some extent, “totalitarian”.
Designed as a Cultural Route passing through 11 countries in the southeast Europe, the ATRIUM Route is an example of a common recognition of the importance of 20th century architectural heritage, because of its complex, contradictory and sometimes uncomfortable relationship to certain periods in European history.

In 2014, ATRIUM, in collaboration with the Romagna Creative District, launched a design contest SIGN INVENTION in order to produce design objects, which are able to capture the experiences of a visit to the special places promoted by the ATRIUM Route.
These objects shouldn’t be simple “promotional” gadgets or gifts, but the result of a conscious and critical interpretation of the history, far away from the original ideological context and designed with a contemporary styling.
Yvonne Schmidt is one of the selected designers.

OT 4 ATRIUM

T-shirts and scarves by OrganicTribe in prestigious organic, eco-friendly and cruelty-free fabrics.
The decó is created with an incision on linoleum, which was inspired by the traditional printing techniques of the beginning of the 20th century. This is the same period that had seen the development of the architectonic style of the modern totalitarian regimes, which is the subject of the ATRIUM project.
The scarves are hand-dyed with natural colours and hand-printed with colours made from natural extracts and water-based acrylic. The uniqueness of the ATRIUM project has been interpreted through traditional craftsmanship, whilst mixing the past and the present, to create unique and exclusive items.

For OrganicTribe, the eco-friendly fashion label, we currently manage, first-hand, all business aspects, including design, production, marketing and distribution.
